A Motor Built for Tough Rooftop Conditions
Our Cooling Tower Direct Drive Fan Motor is designed to operate on rooftops, exposed to rain, sun, heat, and vibration every day. Standard motors fail quickly under these conditions; this motor does not. Protection is IP55 or IP56, meaning it withstands water jets from a hose. Insulation is Class F (155°C), with Class H available for higher temperature environments. Power ranges from 0.55 kW to 315 kW, with 4, 6, or 8 poles to match fan speeds. The motor meets IE3 efficiency as the base standard. Optional IE4 and IE5 motors provide additional energy savings; IE4 motors reduce electricity costs by 3–8% compared to IE3.
Robust Shaft and Bearings for Fan Loads
Fans exert significant lateral loads on motor shafts. Standard motors often have insufficient bearing strength. Our motor uses an NU series cylindrical roller bearing on the drive end to handle side loads, and a deep groove ball bearing on the non-drive end. Bearings are lubricated with high-temperature grease, operating from -30°C to +150°C. The shaft is made of 40Cr steel, providing strength and rigidity. The housing is cast iron HT250 with an epoxy paint finish, passing 500 hours in a salt spray test. The motor flange conforms to NEMA and IEC standards, allowing direct replacement of existing motors without modifying the mount.
Full Testing Before Shipment
Every motor is tested under no-load and full-load conditions, and a detailed test report is provided. Vibration is Class A according to IEC 60034-14. Optional VFD motors allow fan speed control from 5 to 100 Hz, enabling energy savings during low-load periods. The Direct Drive Cooling Tower Fan Motor comes with a 2-year warranty for normal use; frequent starting and stopping is not covered. Optional accessories include rain covers and space heaters, which prevent condensation inside the motor during cold nights.
